Woodcut from Che sheng ba bian neijing (The Penetrating Mirror of the Interior in Eight Books), engraved in the Kangxi reign period of the Qing dynasty (1662-1722), illustrating the flow and circulation of Genuine Qi (zhen qi – the combination of innate and acquired Qi), here shown in counterflow, welling up like a fountain from the end of the coccyx to the top of the head. This is a representation of the movement of Genuine Qi in the body during the practice of Qigong.
